Oboe Day at Leander High School-- November 12, 2022 -12:30 pm- 4:30pm

Join us for a day of oboe education and fun with special guest Dr. Euridice Alvarez!  Learn more and practice making reeds, play fun tunes with your oboe friends, and learn from one of the great oboe masters. Dr. Alvarez also mentioned she will be bringing swag from Baylor University.

Students will be supervised by Danny Cruz, oboefiles assistants, LHS band directors. 

Parents are welcome to drop students off or join in observation. 

 

Oboe Day Schedule

12:30 -1pm- Arrival – Time to meet your oboe friends and set up for reed class.  Desks and clamps will mark stations so everyone has plenty of room to tie and scrape. 

1 pm- 2pm- A brief reed class to go over basics of tying and scraping and make some oboe friends.  You can borrow tools  free of charge or bring your own. Cane will be provided. 

2:15 4:15 Master Class with Dr. Alvarez from Baylor University – 6 Students will get to play for Dr. Alvarez who will share valuable practice and playing techniques. Observers will be able to try new things at home! 

4:20- 4:35- Oboe ensemble readings- Sight reading some fun pieces with your oboe friends all ages welcome from 6th grade to 12th and adult. 

4:35 – 5pm  (tear down)Say goodbye to your friends as we close out the evening.
